Bice, Ernest G. collection.

Included in the collection are pedigree charts; family group sheets; birth, marriage, and death records; photographs; and newspaper clippings. Family "Roundup" programs and materials from Bice family reunions can be found in the collection along with Bice's personal genealogical research notes. The personal series includes reports from the United States Weather Bureau covering Hurricane Beulah as it struck Brownsville, Texas in September 1967. Also contained in the series are newspaper clippings depicting Bice being honored by the Weather Bureau for his exceptional service as a meteorologist.

In September of 1967 Ernest Gordon Bice was chief meteorologist for the United States Weather Bureau in Brownsville, Texas during the onslaught of Hurricane Beulah. Bice led a team of meteorologists in reporting storm conditions without leaving his post although all communication with his family had been severed. In 1968 Bice was awarded a United States Department of Commerce Gold Medal and inducted into the Hall of Honor for extraordinary service and dedication. Active in the field of genealogy...
